Data Protection & GDPR
Last updated: August 2026
This page summarizes how data protection principles are built into Jovia, and explains how to exercise your rights. It complements, and does not replace, our Privacy Policy.
1. Privacy by design and by default
We aim to collect only the personal data Jovia needs to function. Onboarding is structured so you're never asked for more than the current step requires, file uploads are validated and kept private by default, and administrative access to user data follows least-privilege principles with audit logging.
2. Exercising your rights
Most rights can be exercised directly:
- View and edit your data from Profile and Settings
- Export a copy of your data from Settings → Data Export
- Delete your account from Settings → Delete Account
For access, rectification, restriction, objection, or portability requests that aren't available directly in the product, contact [email protected]. We aim to respond within one month, as required under GDPR.
3. What happens when you delete your account
Deleting your account results in the following:
- Profile, CVs, and uploaded files are permanently deleted
- Application history is deleted or anonymized
- Support ticket history is retained for a limited period for quality and legal purposes, then deleted
- Billing records are retained only as long as legally required for accounting purposes
- Identity verification documents are permanently deleted; they are never retained beyond what's needed to confirm identity
- Portfolio work and service listings are permanently deleted; completed marketplace order records are retained only as long as legally required for accounting and tax purposes
- Company profiles, job postings, and applicant data collected through them are permanently deleted; completed hiring-related billing records are retained only as long as legally required for accounting and tax purposes
4. Automated decision-making
Jovia's CV scores, career recommendations, and job match scores are analytical tools, not automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effect. The decision to interview or hire is always made by the employer, outside Jovia's systems.
