Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy explains what personal data Jovia processes, why, and what rights you have over it. It is written for an EU-facing product and reflects the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Data controller
The data controller for Jovia is WEBEK LTD, operating as WEBEK.ORG. For any privacy-related question, request, or complaint, contact us at [email protected], the only official contact address for Jovia.
2. Categories of personal data
We process the following categories of personal data:
- Account data: name, email, password (hashed), account status
- Profile data: contact details, career preferences, target countries and roles
- CV data: work experience, education, skills, languages, certifications
- Application data: jobs viewed, saved, applied to, and their status history
- Usage data: feature usage volume, for product operation and abuse prevention
- Support data: information provided in support tickets or contact forms
- Billing data: subscription status and invoicing details, where applicable
- Identity verification data: government ID documents and a selfie photo, submitted voluntarily by freelancers seeking a verified badge
- Marketplace data: services listed, portfolio work, order history, payments, commission, and payout records, for freelancer and buyer accounts
- Company and hiring data: company profile details, job postings, and applicant data submitted through job listings, for company accounts and job seekers who apply
3. Purposes and legal basis
We process personal data to provide and improve the Jovia service (performance of a contract), to communicate about your account and support requests (legitimate interest or contract), to comply with legal obligations such as accounting requirements (legal obligation), and, where required, based on your consent — for example, for optional marketing communications, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Automated processing and profiling
Jovia uses automated analysis to generate CV scores, career recommendations, and job match scores. These are decision support tools, not automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you — the underlying hiring decision is always made by a third-party employer, outside Jovia's systems. You can request more information about how a specific score was generated by contacting us.
5. Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active, plus a limited period afterward to allow account recovery and to meet legal obligations. Billing records are retained for the period required by applicable accounting law. When you delete your account, your profile, CVs, and application data are deleted or anonymized, except where retention is legally required.
6. Recipients and processors
Personal data is processed by service providers acting on our instructions, including the hosting, database, and authentication providers that operate our infrastructure, and, where used, automated-processing providers and payment processors. These providers are bound by data processing agreements and may only use the data to provide their service to us. We do not sell personal career information. For identity verification, submitted documents are reviewed by our own team (or a verification provider acting on our instructions) solely to confirm identity, and are not used for any other purpose.
7. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Request restriction of processing
- Request a portable copy of your data
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority
Most of these actions are available directly from Settings. For anything else, contact [email protected].
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encrypted connections, row-level access controls, restricted admin access, and audit logging of sensitive administrative actions. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage using a strong, unique password for your Jovia account.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated through the product or by email where appropriate.
